Art Term Tuesday-RHYTHM

Posted by in Art History, In the Studio | 0 comments

Today’s art term is RHYTHM. Rhythm is a Principle of Art.

Rhythm is the repetition of various elements of art to create a visual beat to an artwork. Shapes, lines, colors and forms, when repeated, create a rhythm in an artwork. Utilizing repetition in the elements of art creates a feeling of organized movement around an artwork. The artwork should create a visual flow when you view it.  Rhythm helps to create the overall mood of the artwork by moving your eye around the artwork.
