My Name is Georges Seurat and I was born on December 2, 1859 in Paris, France.
I went to art school at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts.
My most famous painting is A Sunday on La Grande Jatte painted from 1884 to 1886.
Three interesting facts about me:
1. I was very interested in science.
2. I invented a special style of painting called Pointillism. I painted pictures using tiny dots of paint color instead of regular brush strokes and solid areas of color.
3. I painted seven wall-sized paintings and 60 smaller paintings and drawings during my life.
I died on March 29, 1891 in Paris, France.
Quote: “Some say they see poetry in my paintings; I see only science.”
